The wall

To the right-hand side of the entrance of the Hilton Hotel, Leeds, along Neville Street, is a fenced off space. A zigzag of unconnected brown brick wall panels form a backdrop for slate chippings and monolith-like slate shards. In an attempt to brighten up the space, JMJ used his trademark red colour pallet and combined sage green, with turquoise and lagoon (greeny blue), to create the effect of sun shining on the monolith; as if suggesting it could be the centre point of an ancient henge or unique sundial.
