Thornburg village, at the foot of Spruce Street, overlooking Berkeley University, is a 1920s apartment complex; built in the fairytale style. Originally, the complex of apartments was to have had its own bakery, general store and workshop units for artists and creatives. Instead, city planning laws, at the time, meant that the shop units had to be repurposed as garages. Here, JMJ has tried to include all of the design elements of the front of the building. However, JMJ chose not to include a mural of a cockerel on the upper right-hand side.
